Amber Grid sent 55 vehicles and 4 generators to Ukrainian emergency services

Amber Grid, the Lithuanian gas transmission system operator, has handed over 55 vehicles and 4electricity generators to Ukraine. The value of this humanitarian aid package amounts to almost 46 thousand euros.

The vehicles sent to Ukraine, which were used in the operation of main gas pipelines, are in good condition, 5-11 years old, and they have low residual value. According to the CEO of Amber Grid, Ukraine will benefit from both passenger cars and off-road vehicles, measures that will help the country’s institutions respond quickly to situations.

“It is very important that we can contribute and support the struggling Ukraine. In surviving the difficult conditions of war, such equipment is essential for saving lives, ensuring the maintenance of energy facilities and logistics. I am grateful to my colleagues who, in addition to their day-to-day tasks, have organised this donation campaign at the company - from internal discussions and specific agreements with the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine to the preparation of half a hundred cars, loading of 17 trawlers and arrangement of the documentation“, – says Nemunas Biknius, CEO of Amber Grid.

The cars have been handed over to the services that serve the country‘s population and to support the reconstruction of energy facilities affected by the war in Ukraine, for disaster risk reduction, including preparedness and recovery from energy disasters. The transport services were provided and financed by the Polish Government Agency for Strategic Reserves and the European Commission.

From the outbreak of large-scale war in 2022, Amber Grid has provided support and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine for 170 thousand euros.
