• The composition of the produced biogas, which may be supplied into or transported through the gas transmission system, must comply with the natural gas quality requirements set by the Ministry of Energy(1-194 Dėl Gamtinių dujų kokybės reikalavimų patvirtinimo (lrs.lt), in Lithuanian). A biogas producer may request the TSO to grant exemptions from the composition of biogas entering the gas transmission system: to increase the limit value for oxygen (O2) to 0.5 mole % and/or for hydrogen (H2) to 2 mole %. In this case, the TSO shall assess the specific technical safety criteria of the gas transmission system at the point of connection of the biogas facility to the gas transmission system, the impact on TSOs in neighbouring countries and on the users of the Lithuanian gas transmission system, and the compliance with the requirements of accounting standards.
• The legislation governing construction and land-use processes may impose restrictions on the location of biogas production facilities. It is therefore important to discuss the possibility of constructing a biogas production facility not only with the TSO but also with specialised design organisations.
