Maximum design capacity of the gas pipeline branch

Maximum design capacity of the gas pipeline branch:

  • The maximum gas inlet capacity (flow rate in hydraulic calculations) shall be expressed in m3/h and depend on the metering system installed by the owner of the new gas system, the gas compressor, and the technical characteristics of the pipeline branch (diameter, length, number of elbows, etc.).
  • Please note that the maximum excess gas pressure at the connection point is 54 bar. The customer shall have to supply gas at a higher pressure than the pressure at the connection point via a branch line from the biogas plant.
  • The table shall provide indicative, non-binding information on the maximum calculated technical capacities (flows) – (m3/h) for different pipeline diameters and lengths of the pipeline branch, converted to regulatory conditions with a gas pressure of 1.01325 bar and a gas temperature of 0oC:

Diameter of the pipeline branch, mm

Length of the gas pipeline branch, m

Maximum flow rate of the pipeline branch at a pressure of 25.2 bar at the connection point*, m3/h

Maximum flow rate of the pipeline branch at a pressure of 54 bar at the connection point**, m3/h

* - Indicative flow under non-ideal conditions. Actual flow rate shall depend on the geometry of the pipeline branch (curves, elbows), roughness, actual pressure in the system.
